The Wasabi Challenge

Source: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/2c/69/e7/2c69e701c1ca0863233bcbed1b789b3b.jpg

So what is the wasabi challenge?

The wasabi challenge involves a spoon and some wasabi, the participant has to try and eat a spoon full of wasabi without the use of any liquids to help wash it down. If you don't know what wasabi is, it is a plant that is usually ground up into a paste and used as a condiment.

Source: https://img.youtube.com/vi/_-RPvC7gyWk/hqdefault.jpg
Is it that simple?

If you have ever tried wasabi it was probably in a small proportion compared to the food you were eating it with, which is for a very good reason. Wasabi is very hot, and if eaten alone in a large amount will have you reaching for water. Depending on how good you are with hot foods you can up the amount to see who can eat the most wasabi in one go or race to see who can get it down first.

Personal Experience

I haven't tried this challenge myself only because having had wasabi before at a Japanese restaurant, even with food it was too much to handle for me. I think if I was to try this challenge I would not last long before my mouth would start burning and my face would turn bright red.

Raw Onion Challenge

Source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/u4tWcGc6jJk/maxresdefault.jpg

So what is the raw onion challenge?

This challenge is pretty self explanatory, the participant has to eat a whole raw onion. Depending on how daring you are, you can either choose to peel the onion or leave the skin on, I would recommend peeling it.
Source: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/09/15/23/
2C5C6E4A00000578-3236008-image-a-4_1442355750971.jpg

Is it that simple?

No, this challenge is very basic in theory, but when you think about it no on really likes raw uncooked onion and this challenge makes you finish an entire one. You can choose to just try and finish an onion, or if you are in a group you can time everyone and see who can get the fastest time. You can also limit yourself by choosing whether or not you can have any liquids to wash the onion and its flavor down.

Personal Experience

I have never tried this challenge myself, but from reading and watching others experience this challenge it is not a pleasant one. This challenge will have you crying before the end.

Pickle Challenge

source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Hc73W4jR84o/maxresdefault.jpg

So what is the Pickle Challenge?

The Pickle Challenge can be done solo or by competing against a group of friends. Essentially, the way this challenge is completed is to eat all pickles in a jar and drink all the juice in one sitting, without throwing up.

Is it that simple?

It is simple to eat pickles if that's your favorite snack, but for those who despise this fruit/vegetable, it pose to be a greater challenge than initially  thought.

Risks of the Challenge

Eating the pickles and drinking its juice too quickly may cause a digestive upset, bloating, high blood pressure and an increase in kidney workload.

Personal Experience

I have never tried this challenge or dare to try as the very thought of pickles chills my spine, pickles should be sliced up used in burgers only, not eaten on its own   ðŸ˜‚

Cheap Vs Expensive Challenge

Source:https://i.ytimg.com/vi/gMSb0EJWLXE/hqdefault.jpg
What is this Challenge?

This challenge will test out if ur palate can tell the difference between expensive and cheap food products. This challenge can be tried with all sorts of different food products as long as there is a cheap and expensive option to it.

Rules?
The rules are simple, 1 contestant will be the judge and select different kinds of food items with a cheap and expensive alternative. For example the judge may pick different dips, home brand version and a branded version dip. The other participants will be blindfolded and given a taste test of each item where they will have to guess which is the cheaper item and which is more expensive.
Participants with the most correct guesses will be declared the winner.

A few example of food products may include cheese, chocolate, dips, chips, drinks, biscuits or candy.

This challenge really tests your taste of food products due to tastes being similar.

Blindfold/Nose-Less Food Tasting Challenge

Source: http://www.smilingseoul.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/BLINDFOLD-FOOD-CHALLENGE-Abi.Still001-912x340.png

What is this challenge?

This challenge requires a minimum of 3 participants, where 1 participant selects various kinds of foods for the other participants to guess. The participants guessing the food will have their eyes covered with a blindfold and also have their nose covered with a peg. Participants guessing will have to guess what food is being tasted and felt.
Participants will be surprised on how difficult this challenge this will be, without the sense of smell or sight.

Food examples

Any type of foods can be used for this challenge however some various kinds of foods that can be difficult for people are different type of cheeses, various herbs, meats, beverages and other types of lollies or chocolates.

Past experience
Haven't personally attempted this challenge but relying on taste without sight and smell can be very complicated and confusing for participants.

The Oreo challenge

source: http://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/oreo-challenge.jpg

The Oreo Challenge is a age old classic and I remember doing this one as a kid. It is a challenge that you would find at nearly all youth activities, birthdays, school camps or just with friends. Unlike most other food challengers this one doesn't involve pigging out or seeing how much you can fit in your mouth. All it requires you to do is sacrifice your pride and dignity in the name or silliness!

The contestants must place a single oreo in the centre of their forehead and use small wiggles and slight shakes or if head banging works for you go for it, you just have to move it down your face to your mouth. Its a race so who every chomps it first wins!

The Flour Challenge

source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/0XfszSyru5o/maxresdefault.jpg

So what is The Flour Challenge?

The Flour Challenge is very similar to The Cinnamon Challenge however instead of trying to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon, the goal is to swallow a spoonful of flour with no other food or drink (this includes water).

Is it the simple?

Though it seems simple, the real test is whether you are capable of swallowing the flour on its own.

Risks of the challenge

Much like the cinnamon challenge the same risk of choking and inhaling the flour into your lungs are equally dangerous and should be done with extreme caution. Always have a bottle of water with you and a friend in case if anything goes wrong.

Personal experience

At first I thought this would be a fun and exciting challenge and less risky because, hey, its only flour right? Wrong! It felt as if a rock was in my mouth, once the flour soaked up all the moisture between my lips and my throat there was nothing i could do but sit there and look like those dummys you see at carnivals where you put the balls in their mouths. Except, I was trying to take this ball out. If not for the bottle of water I had next to me I would've surely choked on the flour. But I guess that was my fault for doing a spoon and a half   -_- . Here's a note to anyone who decides to do this challenge... When its called a challenge for a reason, don't make it harder on yourself by doing more than what is required. This I can say from experience.

Watermelon challenge

source:https://i.ytimg.com/vi/b73-Bva6EsM/maxresdefault.jpg

The Watermelon challenge is an old time favourite for kids activities. All it involves is watermelon and someone with their hands tied behind their back and all you can use is your mouth! The size of the piece of watermelon can vary on the size of the contestants.

These are two ways to do this challenge. One is a race against time. When the officiator says go you have to eat as much of the watermelon as you can before a one minute timer goes off. This one is usually done with a whole watermelon. The second way to play is a race against friends. At the word go you shove your face into that watermelon and forget all dignity as you chow down to win!

Be sure to record this one 😂

Eat it or Wear it Challenge

Eat it or Wear it Challenge
Source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/CcX0doYZ1UI/maxresdefault.jpg

What is this challenge??

The Eat it or Wear it Challenge is played with 2 people or a small group of friends. Players prior to playing will  be required to select any food item
s and place them in a brown paper bag. (As a side note, players are able to select anything type food product as long as it is edible). After players have gathered the items, each paper bag will be numbered.
In a bowl/container place folded pieces of paper with numbers that will correspond to the numbers on the paper bags. Each person participating in the challenge will take turns in picking a number from the bowl/container. From whatever bag chosen, participants will be required to eat a spoon full of whatever was in the bag otherwise you will have to wear it.

To wear it means that, the other participants can pour/place the food on your head or whichever area they choose. It is strongly advised to wear a dirty shirt whilst doing this challenge as it can get messy and ruin a good shirt.

Personal Experience

Personally this challenge was very very hard and may be wearing it most of the time, since you have no clue on what is contained in each of the paper bags. This challenge gets fun when food that are weird and disliked by other participants are chosen.

To whoever does this challenge have fun and get creative as there is no limit to it!

The 3L milk challenge

source:https://i.ytimg.com/vi/kBFugzV1KxI/maxresdefault.jpg

A lot of these challenges end with people throwing up.
The Australian version of The Gallon Challenge is milk chugging at its finest. Challengers must drink a 3 litre bottle of milk (or you can do 1 gallon of you want the American version) within an hour without violently throwing up,

For a little bit more flare some people add food colouring to their milk before drinking it so that if (which is almost guaranteed) they throw up a beautiful fountain of colour will erupt.

The human stomach can stretch to its max to hold about 4 litres, but not quick enough to cope with this challenge. Bottoms up!

Saltine Cracker Challenge

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/AaZN7I-rkfg/maxresdefault.jpg

So what is the saltine cracker challenge?

The saltine cracker challenge is a food challenge where you have to eat six saltine crackers in 60 seconds without drinking any liquids to help you.

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/5y06g_mF10Y/hqdefault.jpg
Is it that simple?

This challenge may seem easy as you may eat similar snacks on a regular basis. But you have probably never tried to eat them in such a short period of time. Also these crackers will use up all of your saliva and dry up your mouth making it very hard to continue as all of the crumbs are stuck to the inside of you mouth..

Risks of the challenge

The risks associated with this challenge are chocking as you try to eat more and more crackers with the remains in your mouth you may get some lodged in your throat. Make sure you have someone nearby to assist if anything goes wrong and some water to wash out your mouth. Do not try and put them all in at once as this will give you less breathing space.

Personal Experience

In my experience with the saltine cracker challenge I expected it to be easy. This was not the case as with only three down my mouth was so dry that I could not eat any more as the crumbs were all stuck to the inside of my moth and throat. I had to fail the challenge and get a drink.

Ghost Chili Pepper Challenge

source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OvxdQXYVn60/hqdefault.jpg

So what is the Ghost Chili Pepper Challenge?

The Ghost Chili Pepper Challenge is a viral internet food challenge that involves filming oneself while eating and swallowing a chili pepper that is high on the Scoville scale and known for its pungent qualities.

Is it that simple?

The only thing that's simple about this challenge is putting the chili in your mouth. After that it is up to you be able to handle the heat. Some people claim that their mouth, lips and body become on fire.

Risks of the challenge

The risks of the Ghost Chili Pepper Challenge can occasionally lead to health problems like shortness of breath, vomiting, seizures and, in a few extreme cases in children, death.

Personal Experiences

This challenge is extremely dangerous and therefore gives me no initiative to take the risk of this challenge in anyway, shape or form.

The Diet Coke and Mentos Challenge

source: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/proxy/AVvXsEiFcMTD_s2mgZlJkFpw-1CQN-vOblATNlZi9aDYsiaaf_GWN10hlqtw65yplKzmCIqC_T-MNOz81cCxWRY9rgI8vzFEjm2ieJab_8HbmqyZDMu7aDowTbfW8f5Z_qJF_LX069oEDqlnfQQgSTDkmfVk=w426-h240-n

So what is the Diet Coke and Mentos Challenge?

The Diet Coke and Mentos Challenge are only for the daring. The objective of this challenge is to drink a standard 1.25L bottle of diet coke non-stop while having a minimum of 4 mentos in your mouth while try to spit out the least amount of liquid as you can.

Is it that simple?

If you are unaware on the properties of these products then you might not understand the difficulty of this challenge. The mentos activates a physical reaction with the carbon dioxide within the bottle (makes the fizziness), come out as if it were a geyser. This makes it extremely difficult as the person undertaking the challenge has to continue to drink as fast as they can (without trying to choke themselves of course) while also trying to not swallow the mentos within their mouths.

Risks of the challenge

Choking and chest-pains are quite common with is challenge if you are not prepared or have practiced on smaller amounts first.

Personal Experience

I personally have never done this challenge for myself because though the combination of mentos in a coke bottle looked fun as an experiment back in science class, its a whole other story when all that pressure is going into the back of your throat.

The Banana + Sprite Challenge

source: https://www.spriteandbananachallenge.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/spriteandbananachallenge.png

Now this ones a mouth full.

The Banana and Sprite challenge is not for the faint hearted. The trick to conquer this challenge is to simply not throw up 🤢. The brave soul who undertakes the challenge must eat two bananas and then quickly chug a 1L bottle of Sprite and then hold it down.
source: http://img.youtube.com/vi/jv88oOkPtnM/mqdefault.jpg

What is believed to make this difficult is that the Bananas and the Sprite have a chemical reaction in your stomach, forcing you to spew all of it up (you can look it up, there are a ton of videos, if you are into that kind of thing...). What is actually happening is you are filling up your stomach with too much too fast as it can only hold around 2 cups of food/liquid at once, so your body decides to send it back to where it came from.

Personally I'm not game enough to try this but if your eyes are bigger then your stomach or you love the smell of vomit in the morning, this is the challenge for you!

The Weet-Bix Challenge

source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/d2vp8neRRPs/maxresdefault.jpg

The Weet-Bix challenge is an Australian born and bred food challenge

This food challenge has a few variations, but the general idea is to try to down a Weet-bic (singular form of Weet-Bix?) without the aid of any other food or liquid. The most popular version of the challenge is to eat two Weet-Bix in a minute.
source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/H0poGqQ4LjM/maxresdefault.jpg

As with most food challenges, its deceptively hard!

Weet-Bix is super high in fibre, flaky and dry as a bone. The moment it enters your mouth it sucks up all the moisture, making it almost impossible for its victim to swallow. Its very funny to watch friends attempt this challenge and watch their facial expressions turn from amusement, to horror and then frustration as flakes and crumbs go flying .

Weet-Bix, How many do you do?

Chubby Bunny Challenge

source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Nu3IkaURAis/hqdefault.jpg

So what is the chubby bunny challenge?

The chubby bunny challenge is a food challenge where you have to stuff marshmallows into your mouth to see how many you can fit. Each time you put a marshmallow into your mouth, you have to say chubby bunny for it to count. This challenge is best done competing against friends.

https://icebreakerideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/chubby-bunny.jpg
Is it that simple?

This challenge is not as hard as some other food challenges because there is no end goal, but it can get very difficult when trying to beat someone else's score. The challenge starts of very easy with a few marshmallows but gets harder and harder as you run out of space and have to make room.

Risk of the challenge
The risks with this food challenge are choking on the marshmallows, blocking the airways which restricts breathing. It is recommended that if you are doing this challenge you have someone nearby to assist if things go wrong. The Heimlich maneuver can be used to clear the airways.

Personal Experience
When I tried the chubby bunny challenge it was a lot of fun, my friends and I all attempted it at the same time. I reached 10 marshmallows before i started laughing and they all exploded from my mouth.

Cinnamon Challenge

source: http://www.bioedonline.org/BioEd/cache/file/69E57A28-1626-46A6-8BAF19EFE755F576.jpg

So what is the cinnamon challenge?

The cinnamon challenge is a viral internet food challenge where individuals have to eat a spoonful of ground cinnamon within a minute without any type of fluids to assist them.

Is it that simple?
Source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Ww0YTjA1f0E/maxresdefault.jpg

This challenge may look deceptively simple however majority of people who have attempted it have failed due to the sheer difficulty in consuming large amounts of cinnamon at once. The large amounts of cinnamon coats and dries the mouth and through which results in coughing, gagging, vomiting, and inhaling of cinnamon.

Risks of the challenge
The risk of gagging on cinnamon can cause blockage and clog the airways especially if the cinnamon begins to form lumps. Inhaling of the cinnamon can lead to serious damage for the lungs by causing inflammation and leading to infections. With the coughing this can cause considerable irritation, burning, discomfort, or itching of the affected nasal tissue and nostrils.

Personal Experience
From my personal experience of attempting the challenge while it was viral, this challenge is probably one of the hardest challenges to successfully complete. A few seconds after eating the spoonful of cinnamon, i had immediately started coughing it back out and reaching for water.
